As many of us gear up for the holiday season and our final crunch time in salons, others are already forced from salons in light of the pandemic and it’s restrictions.

Many areas have been in a lockdown for quite some time. Many lockdowns are just beginning and some areas are without any lockdown measures.

Regardless of your local situation there are many things that can help us all thru these times.

First, let’s just take some time to breathe.  I remind people every day who sit in my chair that “trauma is trauma”. I often hear others say it could always be worse, or  compare situations to heartbreaking news elsewhere in the world. Yes we all face adversity, stress, hardship, grief etc……  let’s not compare our trauma to the trauma of someone else. Give yourself permission to realize that if a broken ornament falling from a tree was your breaking point then it’s ok. Its not challenge as to who has it worse.

Secondly, now is the time to change what’s not working and be grateful for what is.  This doesn’t mean let’s fold everything we have been doing as this pandemic brings real life challenges. Rather make some lists, sit down and journal, talk to others to gain information, and set new goals.  With time away from our salons we can look at everything with fresh perspectives.

Thirdly …… growth. It’s history. It’s proven in tough times of economic collapse, war , pandemics etc.. On the other side of it comes growth and stimulation.  Great news! Plan your strategies for growth. Those goals you thought of, time to get to work.  Take in everything you can. By educating yourself,  propelling forward , taking small steps now will only reward you in leaps around the corner.
